Crisis in Ukraine

YMCAs throughout the U.S. stand in solidarity with the young people, families and communities affected by the crisis in Ukraine, marking Europe's biggest refugee crisis since World War II. In 2024, there are an estimated 3.7 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine and approximately 6 million refugees in Europe (UNHCR).

YMCA of the USA’s World Service Campaign partners with YMCA Ukraine, YMCA Europe, and the World YMCA to aid those affected by the conflict and strengthen the response by YMCAs. Contributions since February 2022 to YMCA World Service to support the crisis is over $3.2 million, directly assisting Ukrainian refugees and internally displaced families, as well as addressing future needs. Utilizing these funds, YMCAs across Europe, including YMCAs still operating in Ukraine, have reached over 360,000 individuals thus far.
